I got home from Long Island a couple days ago. It has been good to be home, but sad to be away from my new church family. God did so much while we were in New York, and I am excited to see how He will continue working while I am home.
In the last week in New York, we got to help with the VBS at Crossroads. I lead the group of 7 and 8-year-olds, which included some kids who had come to the Arts Camp at the beginning of the summer. God sparked incredible conversations with these kids as they asked questions about everything. He is definitely working in their lives. In Hannah’s group, one kid decided to follow Jesus! God answered our prayer that we would see someone come to know Him during the summer.
Another answered prayer happened on the last Sunday. At the very beginning of the summer, my team and I prayed that we would see someone baptized this summer. Baptism is a sign of their commitment to follow Jesus. Well, instead of one person, we got to see three people get baptized! Once again, God answered our prayers. It was an incredible celebration of life in Jesus.
Now, as I am back home, I am preparing for World Race. It is coming fast, and I am excited to see what God will do. As I think of this time at home before leaving again, I remember what Hannah (one of my teammates in New York) says: Be Obedient in the Simple Things. We have the joy of doing everything for the glory of God! May we obey Him in our work and in our rest.
God is so good and faithful to answer these prayers asking to witness someone come to faith and also to witness a baptism this summer. It is great encouragement to you and your team to have these special memories of your faith flulike service this summer. And so exciting to go forward in great expectation of what God will do and reveal during your next faithful steps.
