(My NY team at training. From left to right: Nash, Chris, Hannah Beth, and Me)
I leave for New York on Wednesday. It’s slowly becoming more real as I begin the final stages of packing and preparing before the trip. The past few months since the last update have been full of school, goodbyes, and family time. One of the fun blessings was that I got to meet my team for New York earlier this month at our training. It will be great to serve alongside them! Overall, there have been many stressful, restful, happy, and sad moments. Definitely full of excitement too!
However, with all of these different emotions and situations, God has been pressing one strong truth on my heart. Remember Who God Is. Remember that He is Good. Remember that He is Faithful. Remember that He is Worthy of It All.
Why do I need to remember? Because I forget…all the time. When I forget, I start trying to do everything on my own, and I miss the good of knowing God. I miss the blessing of having a relationship with Him. One clear way to realize that I have forgotten is when I lack the fruit of His Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Simply, if an apple tree represents the relationship I have with God. Then, when it stops producing apples, I know something has gone wrong with the tree itself. I need to check my relationship with God and, often, turn to Him in repentance.
Thankfully, God is Gracious. In all my forgetting, God continues to remind me of who He is and what Jesus has done for me. He encourages me to trust in Him daily and rely on Him fully. He does the same for you! It is incredible that we can remember who God is and grow closer to Him. We can have a relationship with Him and know Him as Father, Friend, Helper, and so much more.
Therefore, I encourage you to Remember Who God Is with me. And if you don’t know who He is, I would love to tell you about him.
Thank you for keeping us updated. I will pray that throughout these 2 missions and beyond, you will “remember who God is” and even expand by experience who you know Him to be. He’s always bigger, better, stronger, gentler, more loving, more forgiving, and more gracious than I can hold in my head and heart at once. Love you!
I am so excited for you- we’ve been praying! It is so lovely to “hear” your heart. Can’t wait to read more updates.
